Bio
Born in Quebec 1963
Originally from Quebec,
Christine (Maloney) Cloutier moved to Kelowna
in 2003 with her husband and their three children. For the past twenty-five
years, she has been busy as a mother and a partner in their family business.
Despite the demands on her time, she has consistently contributed to and
organized a variety of community, artistic and musical events with and for children. She has been actively engaged in non-profit
organizations, and was also involved in a few humanitarian trips such as Orphan
and Family Camps Activities in Mexico, and in France as a youth group leader
and coordinator.
In 2000, Christine experienced a personal turning point when, in an art therapy group, she discovered her talent for creative painting. “Painting has allowed me to immerse my hands and heart in a new artistic way. I felt I had finally found a medium that allowed me to be become completely in touch with myself. Creative painting has enabled me to reconnect with my past emotions that had not yet been liberated. For me, this was a revelation!”
It was only after the sale of their company in 2008 that Christine allowed herself to fully explore this new artistic expression. After a few years of reflection, she recognized her artistic potential and desire to engage in her new artistic life more than ever. She realized that she wanted to use her expertise and skills which she had gained through years as a business partner and mother to contribute to other people’s lives through the visual arts.
For Christine, creative painting has no boundaries: “This artistic endeavor allows us to express who we are without restrictions on age, gender or nationality. It’s a universal language without words,” and that is why Christine has chosen this artistic language in order to connect with people. Her goal is to help them access their freedom to be themselves just as she experienced when she first began to paint.
